ADG Roaring Red Customised

(click image to enlarge)

I received my first Blythe a couple of days ago. Wow, what they say about ADG's is true...All that glue! It was a real struggle to open her head and get her scalp off. I lost a bit of the flange, so I hope I won't have too much trouble gluing back in ( here the scalp is just placed on the head as I still need to change the pullstring and add sleepy eyes)
I am very happy with the way she looks!

When I ordered her I knew already in my mind what i wanted to do: a short curly bob and areal porcelain doll makeup look. I want her to look like a little Victorian.
I still need a name though. Something old fashioned. Right now I'm thinking Matilda, Esther, Josephine, Esme or Elsie....

What I did:

* Face Sand-matting
* Carved lips and nose
* New chalk makeup
* Painted bottom lashes
* Glossy lips
* Four new Coolcat eyechips, two custom by me.
* Hair cut
* New extra long eyelashes
* Boggled eyelids
* Superior Gaze correction
* Handmade dress

More pictures soon!

Introducing little Frankie

(click pictures to enlarge)

Hello hello!

My lovely fakie Blythe ( a "Basaak" doll) arrived from Thailand a few days ago, and I must say I am over the moon with her! I was really expecting the quality to be worse than what it is. As soon as I took a few "before" shots I dismantled her immediately and got to work! I am smitten with the result. There is no saying I won't customize her further in the future but for the moment I am satisfied.

What I did:

* Face sand-matting
* Lip, nose and philtrum carving
* New acrylic and watercolor makeup and freckles
* Glossy lips
* New eyelashes
* Hair cut
* New handmade dress.

I still need to get my hands on some Msc so I can seal the face.

I have named her Frankie Vanilla Deer ( full name) ^__^

So all in all, I am glad I bought the clone. This is my first customization and I definitely learned from it ( like NEVER use nail polish remover to get stock makeup off, it burnt the plastic real bad and and stunk the house out. Very vigorous sand-matting was necessary after that!).
My ADG should be arriving soon and I cannot wait to customize her!

Awesome, huh?

Urban Cowgirl, Ice Rune and Cassiopeia Spice Neo Blythes.

Hello friends!

Let me share my favourite recently issued Takara Neo Blythes with you all. Most importantly though, these three models are not yet sold out and are available over at Junie Moon and Ebay ( some sellers sell them "nude" for a lesser price as well). Their prices are not too inflated yet as they are still widely available, but you can still count from $90 to $150 per doll ( which is also why I don't own one of these beauties yet!)

First here is Urban Cowgirl:

I love her skin and brown hair, and must admit I am partial to her outfit and accessories too!

Also, I love the Ice Rune model, her outfit is so cute, it's almost unbearable! I think I would have to change her makeup though as her cheeks look pearlescent on some pictures, not too photogenic if you ask me.

Finally, the new Cassiopeia Spice model, that I just love. I nearly caved in and bought her, but I soon realized I wouldn't have the heart to customize her because I love her the way she is...and, as customization is my main interest, it kind of wouldn't make sense to buy her etc...

Don't you love the illustrations that CWC issues before the dolls are unveiled? So cute! Do you realize it's actually someones job to design these lovelies?! Very cool...

In other news, still waiting for the postman to deliver the girls, which will be soon, I hope!

Until next time....

Happy Wednesday!

Waiting for the new girls

Welcome to my new doll blog!

After a lot of research and indecisiveness I have finally ordered my first Blythe doll! I chose the Ashton Drake Roaring Red model, which in spite of being less sought after by collectors, has the reputation of being good quality and having great customization potential.
Lets face it, she is going to through an extreme makeover, and I find it exciting to see what I can do with this little "underdog" of the Blythe world!

I also (quite naughtily) ordered a "fakie" ( Blythe clone doll, basically a knock off...). I know some of you out there will hiss and tut at this, but I was mainly motivated by curiosity and I also want to see how well I can customize this doll ( for my own enjoyment, I will not sell her, just to be clear).
Also, she looks super cute from the seller pictures, and I will be sure to post more here,and do a comparison with the ADG, as soon as they both get here.

Happy Tuesday lovelies!
